my life, travels and some other cool stuff..

My new addition, though I’m having second thoughts.. I needed a commuter / errand bike that I could lock up on the street and not care about it getting stolen, but I also wanted it to be a little cooler than a Walmart special. This is a 1955 Rudge Sport ($200) which at first glance meets the criteria.. it’s even more beat up than the photo shows, but in reality - they may actually want to steal it due to it being vintage. I also think it’s going to fall apart with my rough riding and the amount of miles I’ll put on it. While this one is a 3 speed, I can’t help but think that my Electra beach cruiser would be better for me in the city.. do any of you bike nerds have some thoughts or advice?

i don’t know how you’d budget a ‘not care about it getting stolen’ bike but i’ve been using a globe (specialized’s spin-off make) for a while and it’s a nice ride and not too expensive, imo.

I’ve been thinking about getting a beater, too. Last time I went to Recycle-a-bicycle, and got one for not too much. As my only bike at the time, I hated it. But didn’t care when it got stolen.

I had a vintage bike like this and it sucked that I couldn’t ride it around the city. It was way too fragile!
